Abstract
Session1 (Instrumentation and observations to quantify the magnitude and distribution of atmospheric optical turbulence.)
Title'Preliminary results of site testing campaigns at Samarkand and Suffa observatories in Uzbekistan'
AbstractThe results of site testing campaigns during 2004-2006 at the new observatory near Samarkand city and Suffa radioastronomical observatory are presented. Seasonal variations of clear night-time and meteorological parameters have been analyzed. Seeing was measured using a prototype of the ESO-DIMM. The median value of seeing measured during the entire period was 1.7 arcsec at Samarkand observatory and 1.2 arcsec at Suffa observatory. As expected, seeing conditions in these observatories are not as good as in Maidanak observatory, but still suitable for the most of the observational tasks as well as educational purposes.
