Abstract
Session1 (Instrumentation and observations to quantify the magnitude and distribution of atmospheric optical turbulence.)
Title'First results from a Lunar SHABAR at CTIO'
AbstractSince October 2006, we have operated a 12-element Lunar Shadow-Band Array (SHABAR) on the summit of Cerro Tololo. The instrument measures spatial correlations in scintillation of light from the moon at a sample rate of 100 Hz. From this, Cn2 profiles are derived for the lower 200 m of the atmosphere as well as time series of the estimated total and high-level seeing. This paper describes the instrument, analysis techniques and initial results.
