...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FOR THE BIG ISLAND 
SUMMITS...

.Heavy snow and periods of freezing drizzle will affect the Big
Island summits above 10000 feet. In heavy precipitation, snow may
fall at elevations as low as the visitor center at times.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 6 inches or
  more expected. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Big Island Summits above 10000 feet.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM HST this evening.

* IMPACTS...Roads will be snow covered and slipper through the day
  due to heavy snow as well as blowing and drifting snow.
  Visibilities near zero can be expected at times in heavy snow.
  Travel to the summits should be postponed if possible until 
  conditions improve.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet,
and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible. Any
travel plans to the summits should be postponed until the threat
diminishes.
